Jerrel Peterson

Jerrel Peterson is a social worker by training and has spent his career leveraging research and strategic partnerships to address complex social and political issues. He is currently the Head of Content Policy at Spotify where he leads a global team of experts focused on researching, writing, and enforcing policies that enable creative expression while minimizing the potential for offline harm. Prior to Spotify, Jerrel served as the Head of Safety Policy for Twitter after multiple years in public policy and providing direct services to various marginalized communities within the U.S. Jerrel is passionate about people-centered approaches and utilizing his systems thinking, empathy, and advocacy skills to empower hundreds of millions of creators, activists, and users around the world to find community and safely create the experiences they want online.
