Our Education and Outreach team believe that education is a tool for advocacy and strive to empower immigrant communities by connecting them with key resources. We prioritize mutual education as a learning tool to collaborate with our partners and community members to create accessible presentations\, webinars\, clinics\, and events. We intend to destigmatize any misconceptions of immigration law and the socio-political narrative that accompanies it. \nThe Education Department at the Whitney Museum of American Art is dedicated to engaging in that practice\, and to promoting diverse voices within American art and our community. Focusing especially on those who have been historically marginalized\, we place the learner at the center of our programs and resources.

DESCRIPTION:    \nDe Nariz a Nariz \nEsta serie de cuatro sesiones brindará un foro para que el grupo se reúna\, juegue\, se conecte y al honrar la nariz\, se reconecte con sus cuerpos como fuente de sabiduría\, risa\, reflexión y expresión. \nTodas las sesiones serán en inglés y español\, aprenderemos en un entorno multilingüe. \nCelebremos y adoremos todos los golpes\, giros y vueltas de nuestras narices en un entorno grupal pequeño y solidario. \nBy Word of Nose:  \n\nA sewing workshop that aims to bring people together to imagine the nose as a tool for empowerment and connection through narrative making and play. \nParticipants will learn hand sewing techniques to create their own fabric noses. \nNo sewing experience is necessary! \nThis four session series will provide a forum for the group to gather\, play\, connect and – in honoring the nose – reconnect with their bodies as a source of wisdom\, laughter\, reflection and expression.\nAll sessions will be in English and Spanish\, we will learn in a multilingual environment.\nLet’s celebrate and honor all the bumps\, twists\, and turns of our noses in a small supportive group setting.\n\nWorkshops are free. Her work has been shown at noted arts institutions like The Bronx Museum of the Arts and BRIC Media Arts as well as in curated forests and the streets of Brooklyn.
